Despite the fact that copyright of this publication is «the Diary of Anne Frank» expire on 1 January 2016, the Foundation of Anne Frank is threatening to sue the organizations and individuals who lay out diary in free access on the Internet, reports The Guardian.
The Fund’s management argues its objections the fact that Otto Frank – Anne’s father and the founder of the Foundation, should be considered a co-author of the diary of his daughter, because it was he who compiled and edited the records of Anne. According to the Foundation, Otto Frank also needs to be copyrighted, which in this case will expire in Europe in 2050, the year when the 70th anniversary of his death.
Otto Frank is the only one of his family survived the Holocaust and died in 1980.
Opponents of the announcement of Otto Frank co-author warned the Fund that this step is equivalent to saying that for decades maintained a lie about the true authorship of the diary.
