The legislative Commission of the government approved the draft law on reducing the minimum legal age for employment from 14 to 13 years.
The bill was proposed by deputies of Yifat Shasha-Biton and Roy Volkmann («Kulan»).
Recall that currently the employment of children under the age of 14 years is prohibited. Children aged 14 to 15 years can be hired only on light work, and only during the school holidays.
Working while studying is possible only starting from 15 years.
In the fields of performing arts and advertising the employment of children under 15 years are allowed only after obtaining special permission from the Ministry of economy.
Adolescents under 16 may not work more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours a week. Forbidden work for adolescents in the day (Saturday for Jews and Friday, Saturday or Sunday for members of other faiths). It also prohibits teenagers work the night shift from 20:00 to 08:00 hours.
