Wednesday, 23 December, the energy Ministry of Israel has approved a deal to supply gas from Tamar field to Egypt cost 1 billion shekels. About this informed the radio station «Sieves Beth».
Publication «Globes» explains that it is about 5 billion cubic meters of gas that will be delivered over three years.
The publication writes that the transaction has been approved by the Minister of energy Uvalam by Steinitz. And it concerns a contract with Egyptian company Dolphinus.
However, the publication noted the difficulties that could face Israel in the implementation of the transaction. And one of them is the need for approval of the contract by the government of Egypt on 6 December ordered the Egyptian gas companies to stop negotiations with Israel on gas purchases. The order to freeze the talks was given after an international arbitration court ordered Egypt to pay Israel’s «Electric company» of compensation in the amount of 1.76 billion U.S. dollars for the failure of gas supplies after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
