On the morning of Friday, January 12, the government of Israel at a special meeting unanimously approved the state budget for the year 2019 and the draft law on economic regulation.

The discussion lasted from Thursday evening until Friday morning. The final approved budget for 2019 – 397,3 billion shekels (excluding cost of debt). Of these, the budget of the Ministry of defence – 63 billion shekels, the Ministry of education is 60 billion shekels, the Ministry of health – 38 billion shekels. Social security and the support of citizens, Holocaust survivors, and allocated NIS 13 billion. In addition, the payment of disability benefits allocated 2 billion shekels.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the budget «excellent» and «reflects a consistent and responsible policy». According to him, the adopted budget supports economic growth and demonstrates care and concern for the social needs of all the citizens of Israel.
«The budget for 2019 is a social budget that focuses on the growth of the Israeli economy and strengthening the economy,» – said in turn the Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon.
On the eve of Netanyahu said he expects within two months to spend the state budget for the year 2019 and the law on economic regulation in the Knesset. However, he noted that productively working together with the Minister of Finance.
Earlier it was reported about the objections to the draft budget from the Minister of social security Haim Katz (he insisted
the increase in allowances for persons with disabilities), as well as from the Minister of culture and sports Miri Regev and Minister of science of the Ophir Akunis. Judging by a unanimous vote, all disputed issues have been resolved.
