The Greek Parliament voted in favour of resolution calling on the government to officially recognize non-existent state of Palestine and to carry out all necessary legal procedures.
The MPs also asked the Ministers to exert maximum efforts for the resumption of «direct trust» peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, writing on Tuesday, December 22, foreign media and, in particular, the Jewish news Agency JTA.
The article notes that the vote took place against the backdrop of the visit to Greece of the head of the PNA Mahmoud Abbas and the fact that earlier a similar resolution was supported by the national Assembly of France, the British House of Commons and the European Parliament.
On the same day, before the vote in Parliament, Abbas said that before the end of 2016 issued by PNA passports inscription «the Palestinian authority» will be changed to «state of Palestine». This statement was made after talks with Prime Minister Alex Tsipras .
Greece warned Israel that the outcome of the vote a foregone conclusion, at the same time, the government is seeking rapprochement with Israel, said that the Declaration of Parliament, would not entail policy change.
