On the night of Monday, December 7, Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Baghdad. As noted by the German DPA news Agency, the visit was not announced for security reasons.
During the day the scheduled talks Steinmeier with the President of Iraq Fouad Massoum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
Previously, the German authorities promised the Iraqi leadership support in the fight against «Islamic state». After arriving in Baghdad, Steinmeier confirmed that his government intended to provide such assistance.
