Bilal AZ-Zayat, physician and President of the Islamic society of the German city Marburg, Federal state of Hessen, had a local Jewish help in writing a new Torah scroll.
About it writes on Sunday, 6 December, Jewish news Agency JTA, citing the weekly Juedische Allgemeine.
AZ-Zayat wrote a few letters of the scroll with a scribe for Joseph and Granowsky, and then attended the ceremony, held in the local synagogue, together with representatives of the Protestant and Catholic communities. At this feast was also attended by the mayor and his predecessor.
The old Torah was buried in the Jewish cemetery, where a dusty scroll found thirty years ago. He belonged to the Jewish community Wolfhagen, now defunct.
