After the accident on highway 1 that claimed the lives of six people, transport Minister Israel Katz has ordered the Director General of the Ministry of transport to speed up the process of installation of systems for the prevention of road accidents in vehicles.
The press service of the Ministry of transport recalled that about two weeks ago, the Minister signed a decree obliging from November 2016 to establish a system of prevention of accidents in buses and in trucks. Mandatory installation of the system, informing drivers of the exit lanes, as well as the system that determines the distance to the vehicle in front.
The Ministry of transport will check with the Finance Ministry the possibility of encouraging drivers installed in the system described above until November 1.
We note that recently the transport Ministry has approached the Finance Ministry with a request to explore the possibility of encouraging the installation of systems for the prevention of road accidents in vehicles.
In Ministry of transport believe that the conditions on highway No. 1, which occurred on February 14, the accident, were optimal. The cause of the accident was the human factor. And the installation of the system that informs the driver about the exit lanes, could have prevented the accident.
