Tuesday, February 10, the Supreme court rejected a request to allow a live broadcast from the meeting, which will address claims filed against the gas agreement. Radio station «Sieves Beth» said that the request was submitted by the newspaper «calcalist».
In the decision of the judges, said that they see no compelling reasons to derogate from existing rules. In the judgment it is specified that the meeting would be open to members of the press and, therefore, will respect the public’s right to information.
The head of Meretz Zahava Gal-on expressed regret over the decision of the high court of appeals. According to her, the judges were afraid that «Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will turn the trial into a theatrical show.»
The high court of appeals also rejected the request submitted by «Movement for the purity of the power», about the meeting of an expanded panel of judges.
