Sunday, April 16, the high court will consider an appeal by two citizens, filed a lawsuit against the decision to close the border crossing «Taba» on the border with Egypt. As radio station «Reshet bet», the plaintiffs argue that a state’s decision to deny entry into the Sinai, have caused damage to their right to freedom of movement and caused them serious financial damage.
Representatives of the state, in turn, claim that the decision was made due specific alerts on the intention of the organization «Islamic state» to commit a terrorist attack against Israelis.
In response, the state argues that there is unity of opinion among all the intelligence agencies of Israel about the danger associated with the stay of the Israelites at Sinai.
PPC «Taba» should resume work on April 18 after the completion of Passover.
Recall that the decision to close the border crossing «Taba» was adopted by the Minister of transport and intelligence Yisrael Katz. «Because of the seriousness of the threat and on the basis of the information available to Israel, Minister Katz decided that it is better to intervene in the plans of travelling than to put the lives of people in danger. Before making a decision, the Minister has consulted with the relevant agencies. He called on all Israelis residing in Sinai to immediately return home,» – said the press service of the Minister.
