Sunday, February 1, at about 23:00 the press service of the IDF reported that after assessing the operational environment it was decided to remove roadblocks from the entrances to Ramallah.
The checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the «capital» of the Palestinian authority were set in the afternoon of 1 February at the background of the investigation into the terrorist attack committed yesterday at the checkpoint «Focus».
In the daytime the entrance to the city was permitted only to residents of Ramallah and check out is permitted only in humanitarian cases. Closer to the evening, the blockade was relaxed. The Palestinian media reported multi-kilometer traffic jams on the outskirts of the city in a northerly direction and exit in the direction of Jerusalem.
Recall that the attack on the checkpoint «Focus», were injured three Israelis. On 1 February from the hospital «Shaare Zedek» reported that the condition of one of wounded, which was assessed as severe, there has been improvement. Two of the injured are in hospital «Ar And Hadassah mount Scopus», they got wounds from mild to moderate severity.
The attack was carried out by 34-year-old Amjad, Sukari, a resident of the village Jamain (near Nablus). The terrorist was one of the security guards of the General Prosecutor of the PNA, whose office is in Ramallah, and was the Sergeant of the security service in the Palestinian security forces.
On the morning of 31 January, he wrote in his account on the social network Facebook: «I don’t see anything for what it was worth to live.»
As revealed in the investigation into the attack, at about 11:05 Sukari arrived on the official car to the checkpoint «Focus» near the settlement of Beit El. The terrorist got out of the car and opened fire with a pistol on the Israelis. The IDF soldiers returned fire, shot and killed the attacker. Immediately after the attack, his body was handed over to representatives of the Palestinian authority.
