The Palexpo exhibition centre in Geneva has opened the 88-th international motor show. In the first days of the exhibition with novelties of the world automobile industry meet media representatives. To the public it will be open from 8 to 18 March.

Geneva motor show was first held in 1905. He is one of the largest automotive exhibitions in the world and unique in Europe, held annually. It attracts almost all the major global automakers, and every year, the Swiss auto show is becoming a landmark event in the history of the automotive industry.
The privileged status of the Geneva motor show has gained not only thanks to the efforts of the organizing Committee, but also due to the fact that it takes place in Switzerland, a country located in the heart of Europe and do not have their own car production. In contrast to the showrooms of the major car manufacturers, where, above all, strive to present domestic models in Geneva all are equal. Therefore, the international Geneva motor show is an ideal platform for truly global Premier.
This year at the Geneva motor show held 110 world and European premieres. Their products in the exhibition demonstrate more than 180 companies from different countries. For lighting showroom in Geneva arrived at about 10 thousand journalists. As expected, during the exhibition it will be visited by about 700 thousand people.
At a ceremony in the framework of the auto show announced the results of the European competition «car of the year 2018». The results of the voting of the jury members, composed of 58 specializing in automotive topics of journalists from 22 European countries, won crossover Volvo XC40, gaining a total of 325 points.
Second place went to the Seat Ibiza hatchback (242 points), third – sedan BMW 5 Series (226 points). In the finals participated Stinger also Kia, the Citroen C3 Aircross, the Audi A8 and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
Recall that the European «Car of the year 2017» was the crossover Peugeot 3008. A year earlier, the victory was won by the Opel Astra. In previous years the holders of this title became Volkswagen Passat, Peugeot 308, Volkswagen Golf, Opel Ampera and Nissan Leaf.
