The international Olympic Committee has decided to extend sanctions against Russia in connection with the anti-doping rule violations, according to «Sport-Express».
The IOC asked the international federations of winter sports to refrain from holding international competitions on the territory. Initially, the ban was in force until 31 December 2016. Now the sanctions are of a continuing nature.
The statement said: «the IOC Executive Council decided to extend the sanctions imposed on 19 July, «until further notice». In the framework of the measures taken, the IOC will not support the holding of sports events in Russia. The Executive Board of the IOC will take all necessary measures and sanctions in kontektse Olympic games, up to disqualification of athletes and officials involved in doping Affairs. In addition, the IOC encourages all federations for Olympic winter sports to suspend the preparations for the international sporting events in Russia, including the world Championships and world Cups, and is actively looking for alternative organizers. Outside of the Olympic games, the international sports Federation are entitled to any additional sanctions against athletes in international competition, until the suspension of membership of national federations».
