Sunday, December 27, the Iraqi regular army established control over the city of Ramadi (90 km West of Baghdad), captured by militants of the «Islamic state» in may 2014, reports the BBC.
The military seized the government compound.
The militants retreated to the North-Eastern outskirts of the city.
The report notes that the military is slowly replacing militants, fearing a mining of buildings, streets and squares, as well as snipers.
The operation to regain control of Ramadi began in November of this year, the storming of the Central areas of the city was conducted last week.
