Wednesday, June 14, the Minister of regional cooperation of Israel, tzachi Hanegbi met in Rome with Pope Francis and foreign Minister of the Vatican, Archbishop Paul Gallagher.
According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Israel, at the meeting they talked about the taxes on real estate owned by the Vatican in Israel, and also discussed the issue of settlement of disputes between members of different religions concerning the order of worship.
After the meeting, Hanegbi told reporters that she was held in a friendly atmosphere and on many issues the parties failed to achieve progress.
Note that at the end of may 10 channel of the Israeli media reported that between Jerusalem and the Vatican is negotiating a possible visit to the Holy Land by Pope Francis. According to this source, if the parties fail to agree, the Pontiff will visit Israel next autumn.
