The Knesset Committee on rules approved the composition of the parliamentary Commission on investigation of financial system in the crediting of large borrowers.
The Commission is comprised of members Eitan cabel, Yoav Kish, ROI Folkman, Bezalel Smotrich, Yigal Gweetaa, Robert Ilatov, Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin, Dov Hanin, Chaim Yalin, Moshe Gafni. They were to join the representative of MERETZ.
At the moment the Commission under the rules considers the possibility of expanding the powers of the Commission of inquiry to enable it to penalize persons who refused to appear to testify.
The reason for the creation of the Commission was the largest in Israel’s history the bankruptcy of the holding company of Eliezer Fishman, the debts of which exceeded 1.5 billion shekels.
The management of the Bank of Israel announced that it was ready to cooperate with the investigative Commission, however, opposed the expansion of its powers.
