On Thursday morning, 24 December, the Knesset approved on second and third readings a draft law on regulating the activities of the settlement Department of the Jewish Agency («Sokhnut»).
For this bill, submitted by MK Bezalel Smotrich («Bayt Yehudi»), voted 53 deputies, and against him to 48. One Deputy abstained.
According to the approved bill, the settlement Department was transformed into the Executive body of the government in all that relates to the implementation of settlement policy. It is not only about Judea and Samaria, and the lands inside the so-called «green line».
The law also provides for the publication of reports on the financial activities of the Department, but the distribution of her lands still will not be published.
