On Monday, December 28, at the plenary session of the Knesset was approved on first reading an amendment to the act that allows the health Ministry to release new immigrants from the exam for the license of the dentist. The authors of the bill propose to exempt from the examinations of physicians, with extensive experience in the specialty in their country of origin.
The bill proposes to exempt returnees from the exams partially or fully depending on criteria to be developed by the Ministry of health.
In the explanatory note to the bill States that in anticipation of a new wave of aliyah, it is necessary to help new immigrants to quickly start working in their field.
Minister of aliyah and immigrant absorption ze’ev Elkin said that with the last wave of aliyah from France came a large number of experts, however, they found that they needed to pass the exam, which for many has become a serious obstacle.
