Canadian trade Union Unifor, formed by the Union of canadian Averbach (CAW) and the communications workers Union, energy and paper industries (CEP), whose members include more than 310.000 employees, adopted a resolution supporting anti-Israeli BDS movement.
This decision was taken last month at a meeting of the Council, Unifor, which was held in Winnipeg, the administrative center of the province of Manitoba.
In this document, the text of which is posted on the official website of the canadian branch of BDS, says: «Unifor supports the restrictions, sanctions and boycott those sectors of the economy of Israel who profit from the ongoing occupation of Palestine, and will support as long as Israel does not put an end to further construction in the occupied territories and will not start negotiating with representatives of the Palestinian people – with the objective of establishing a viable, contiguous and sovereign Palestinian state.»
Terrible that Unifor has allowed himself to be drawn into a scandalous, anti-Semitic and counterproductive campaign against Israel. The resolution adopted last week by the Council Unifor, the erroneous, shameful, and suggests that the Union does not understand the complexity of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. BDS has been rejected by all major Federal political parties,» he said in an interview with The Canadian Jewish New Shimon Koffler-Fogel, CEO, Centre for Israel and Jewry.
