The League of Arab States (LAS) adopted a decision to support the French initiative to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
An official statement was published late on Saturday, may 28, at the extraordinary meeting of foreign Ministers of the Arab League in Cairo, according to news Agency AFP.
French peace initiative involves the creation of two equally sovereign States. This conference must lay the foundations for the second, more ambitious conference with the participation of Israelis, Palestinians, representatives of Russia and the United States and the League of Arab States.
The Israeli leadership has previously rejected the French proposal, stressing that the best way for a peaceful settlement of direct bilateral negotiations. The President of the Palestinian national authority Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), by contrast, supported the Paris initiative.
