In the Republic of Maldives political crisis continues. The President imposed a state of emergency, the police arrested the Chairman and judge of the Supreme court.
The unrest in the state began after the Supreme court ruled that the trial of the former President of the Maldives by Mohamad Nasheed, who since then is in exile, was unconstitutional. The court also ordered the release from prison of a number of opposition politicians.
When the Commissioner of police of the Republic of Maldives said that he intended to obey a court order, President Abdulla Yamin sent him into retirement.
The army received the order to suppress attempts to lead to the impeachment of the incumbent President.
