As writes the economic newspaper the Marker, the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and energy Minister Yuval Steinitz has committed to the government of Jordan that the Hashemite Kingdom will take priority in the procurement of gas from deposits of «Leviathan».
In accordance with the document, Jordan will get energy, even if these deliveries will be to the detriment of the energy interests of Israel. The article argues that the letter was approved by the regulator.
The publication notes the lack of transparency in the process of making a commitment. It is also noted that all obligations are unilateral – Jordan retains the discretion to change the process of regulation unilaterally.
Thus, prior to the expiration of the agreement, Jordan will receive annually three billion cubic meters of gas. The Marker says that Egypt cut gas supply to Jordan to ensure its energy independence. Israel has no such possibility.
