The Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov at the Congress of the party «United Russia» has confirmed that the Ministry was preparing excise taxes «on junk food,» reports NEWSru.com.
Anton Siluanov said that such measures exist in many States to reduce consumption of unhealthy products, and to replenish the Treasury.
Russian media believed that after entering the excise tax may increase the price of goods such as carbonated drinks, sugar and contains palm oil products. According to some estimates, the excise tax on soda at the rate of 20% will bring in Treasury of 600 million rubles a year. The palm Mallo can impose a tax equal to 30%.
Siluanov also said that the preservation of oil prices at 30 dollars a barrel could force the government to apply to the reserves, but the Ministry of Finance would like to resort to this tool in a pinch.
According to official data, the Reserve Fund on February 1, 2016 amounted to 3,737 trillion rubles and the national wealth Fund 5,349 trillion rubles (about $50 billion and $70 billion respectively).
