Sunday, 28 February, the Minister of transport and exploration Yisrael Katz said he intends to promote a bill that would allow the deportation of families of terrorists in the Gaza strip.
«I intend to address to deputies of the Knesset from the coalition and opposition, and to initiate a change in the law, which currently does not allow expulsion,» said Yisrael Katz. «Our task as government is to save lives, and the exile of families of terrorists will diminish the motivation of juveniles to carry out terrorist attacks», he added.
Katz’s statement came in response to the verdict of the legal adviser of the government of Aviha Mandelblit, resolved that the deportation of families of terrorists is contrary to Israeli and international law. About the verdict on 28 February, told the radio station Galei Tzahal.
Minister of construction Yoav GALANT also criticized the verdict of the legal adviser of the government sharp criticism. «I strongly disagree with Awaam Mandelblit in this matter, and I consider that the deportation of families of terrorists and the destruction of their homes should be used as a measure to combat terrorism,» said GALANT.
