According to «calcalist», the Ministry of transport of Israel started the preparatory work with the aim to attract developers of Autonomous cars.
Journalist Tomer Hadar writes that the representatives of the Ministry have already held meetings with the leaders of GM, Ford and other companies involved in the development of Autonomous cars.
According to the newspaper, the final goal is start testing Autonomous cars on the roads of Israel by 2020.
Among other things, the Ministry next month plans to announce a tender for the development of technologies that identifies the vehicle from another vehicle. In addition, work has begun on the introduction of relevant amendments to the legislation.
The next step should be a tender for the development of cyber security systems that protect cars from interference by hackers. Further it is planned to conduct tests on the South of the country, and the creation of virtual maps of Israeli roads.
