At the plenary session of the Knesset was approved in the second and third readings of the law providing for a large fine for owners of private businesses for discrimination against military personnel. This was reported on the website of the Knesset.
The bill was proposed by Robert Filatovym («Israel Our home»). In the Preface to the bill States that it was developed after several cases where the owners of private businesses, including restaurants and Nightclubs refused to serve employees of the security services in the form of the fire service or paramedics MADA, as well as citizens, on the clothes which were symbols of military units.
The website Walla News recalls that in the Knesset last convening of such a bill promoted the party «Yesh Atid» once in a restaurant in Haifa refused to serve reservist in uniform. Considering this case, the magistrate’s court of Haifa has ordered the restaurant to pay the reservist compensation and apologize.
The new law gives courts the authority to write to the owners of private enterprises fines of up to 50 thousand shekels without having to the Complainant argued that he suffered damages.
