The party Yisrael Beiteinu criticized the new bill to convert to Judaism

Sunday, June 25, for the approval of the Ministerial Committee on legislation passed a bill on «state convert to Judaism».

Party «Our house Israel» opposes this bill, «assigned to the Chief Rabbinate’s absolute monopoly on the recognition of Jewry». This is stated in a special press release of the party Yisrael Beiteinu.

The Yisrael Beiteinu party believes that the bill is «the result of the internal struggle of the ultra-Orthodox» directed «against other currents in Judaism, which affects, above all, immigrants».

«We are not ready to support the initiative, which strengthens the division within the people of Israel. The convert to Judaism has an important role in integrating those who seek to become a Jew. Living in Israel thousands of loyal state citizens who served and serve in the IDF, work, pay taxes, but because of this law, on a whim, will cease to be a part of the Jewish people. This bill is submitted contrary to the procedure established by the coalition agreements governing and defining legislation in the sphere of the relations of religion and state, and changes the status quo. Such legislative initiatives must first be reviewed by a special Commission headed by the Minister Ariva Levin established for this purpose. In this case, the Commission has not been convened,» — said in a press release NIDS.

Faction Yisrael Beiteinu demanded the implementation of the coalition agreement and the convening of the said Committee before a bill is submitted for consideration by the Ministerial Committee on legislation.

Commenting on the bill, the Minister of defence, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Avigdor Lieberman said: «we are Talking about the bill, which divides the Jewish people and causing severe damage to the repatriates and the Jews of the Diaspora. This law creates an unjustified discrimination, as a result, we could lose hundreds of thousands of representatives of our people and those who aspire to become part of it. We strongly oppose the bill, which not only defies logic, but also a blow to immigrants -citizens of Israel, aliyah and will reject Israel for dozens of years ago.»
