About a month ago it became known that Iran has signed an agreement with the six international mediators and the European Union about the alteration of the nuclear reactor at Arak. The agreement, signed by Iran, USA, Russia, France, Britain, China, Germany and the European Union, provides assistance to rebuild the reactor in Arak so that it uses the «light water».
The conversion reactor at Arak was one of the main contentious issues in the negotiations on the nuclear programme of the Islamic Republic.
The agreement also provides for a ban on building new reactors heavy water in Iran over the next 15 years, and the excess of heavy water will be available for sale on the world market.
