Pope Francis flew to Cuba, where on 12 February will take place an event of great historical importance was his meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow. The Pontiff’s plane sat at the airport Jose Marti in Havana.
Pope Francis made a stop in Cuba on the way to Mexico. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow arrived in Havana to visit. Today he met with Cuban leader Raul Castro said that the Cuban people deserve the right to live the way he wants.
Earlier it was reported that the Pope intends to discuss with the Patriarch the issue of the persecution of Christians in the modern world.
Francis and Kirill will also discuss bilateral relations and topical issues of international politics. Following the meeting, the leaders of the two churches intend to make a joint statement.
