According to preliminary unofficial results of the parliamentary elections in Iran, the leaders of the so-called reformists and moderate conservatives. Voter turnout was just under 60%.
On the eve of the Iranian authorities reported that the voting had to be extended twice due to the unusually high voter turnout. However, in the last parliamentary elections the activity of the citizens was higher and amounted to 64%.
The Iranian interior Ministry reported that the vote count will likely be open until Monday, February 29.
The right to participate in voting are about 55 million Iranians. 290 seats in the Majlis 10th convocation there were about 5 thousand candidates. Under Iranian law, candidates with more than 25% of the votes in their districts, become deputies of the Majlis. Remaining applicants will continue to struggle in the second round.
In the Assembly of experts is composed of 88 scholars with knowledge of Islamic law. The term of office of this public authority is eight years. The candidates for the Board were 159 people.
