Sunday, August 13, the acting President of Israel Reuven Rivlin has rejected a request by former President Moshe Katsav about the lifting of restrictions of parole.
Rivlin explained that the Commission on early conditional release allowed Katsav to leave prison only on condition of imposing restrictions and implementation of a correctional program before the end of the official term of imprisonment in December 2018.
In a letter to Rivlin notes that given these circumstances and because of the nature of the crime, Katsav’s request cannot be granted.
We will remind, the former head of state convicted sex offender, served five years of imprisonment of the seven that were sentenced by the court. December 21, 2016, he was released early.
The Commission on early conditional release imposed on Katsav several limitations. For example, he will not be able without special permission to leave Israel until the end of 2018, during this period, he will not have the right to communicate with journalists. He is forbidden to leave the house from 22:00 to 6:00. In addition, he must regularly report to the nearest to the residence of the police station.
May 23, 2017 Katsav turned to Rivlin asking for the withdrawal imposed on him restrictions. March 6, Moshe Katsav has asked the Bureau of prisons with a similar request. However, it was rejected.
