No Egyptian company has not received the consent of the government of Egypt to import natural gas from Israel. On Thursday, 24 December, said Prime Minister of Egypt, Sharif Ismail.
According to him, negotiations on the supply of Israeli gas to Egypt should be terminated immediately.
As previously reported, on December 23, the Ministry of energy of Israel approved the deal with Egyptian company Dolphinus about the purchase of gas from the Tamar field value of 1 billion shekels.
According to the newspaper «Globes», it is about 5 billion cubic meters of gas, to be supplied within three years.
However, the publication noted the difficulties that could face Israel in the implementation of the transaction. And one of them is the need for approval of the contract by the government of Egypt on 6 December ordered the Egyptian gas companies to stop negotiations with Israel on gas purchases. The order to freeze the talks was given after an international arbitration court ordered Egypt to pay Israel’s «Electric company» of compensation in the amount of 1.76 billion U.S. dollars for the failure of gas supplies after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
