Prime Minister of Estonia jüri Ratas and the Estonian delegation did not get on the plane and flew off in time after the November EU summit in Gothenburg, wrote on Tuesday, 5 December, the Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten, citing the letter of the Ambassador of Estonia in Sweden, Merle of Pauly addressed to Ministers of Sweden and the management of the airport Gothenburg-Landvetter.
At the airport when entering passengers to land in front of the Estonian delegation slammed the door, and the plane rose into the air, not the Prime Minister, who hurried to Tallinn to the scheduled meeting.
The delegation had to sit in the VIP room and wait, while their counterparts in the other two countries was taken in the planes, complaining about the Ambassador. The Ambassador of Estonia demanded an explanation from the carrier company Swedavia, she was informed that it was the decision of the pilot, whose name refused to name. «Not to inform the Prime Minister and the delegation about the situation and about changes in flight plan or not to inform about the confusion – it’s just disrespectful,» reads the Ambassador’s letter.
Currently, the company Swedavia and airport management Gothenburg Landvetter are investigating the incident.
Advisor to the government of Estonia on relations with the press Triin Oppi confirmed that the objective reasons to dismiss the delegation from the flight was not – none of its members had not been drunk and had behaved aggressively, everyone arrived at the airport early.
