The Prime Minister of Iraq Haidar al-Abadi rejected a proposal to build a wall around Baghdad. This idea was put forward by the Ministry of internal Affairs, naming the most effective way to prevent the penetration in the capital of the militants of the «Islamic state».
«Baghdad is a city that belongs to all Iraqis, this is our capital. Isolated from the country is unacceptable,» — said in a statement released by the office of the head of government.
A few days ago, interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan stated that the erection of the wall has already begun. According to him, this measure would drastically reduce the number of checkpoints in Baghdad, by normalizing the situation in the city.
