Tuesday, 13 February, the military court in Ofer extended the arrest of 16-year-old Palestinian Arab women Ahed Tamimi until the end of the trial.
Ahed Tamimi requested a hearing in the presence of journalists and human rights activists, however, the court decided that the meeting will be held in private, explaining that «protection of the interests of the minor suspect.»
Knesset member Yousef Jabareen was going to visit Ahed Tamimi in jail. But the prison authority (SHABAS) without explanation denied him the visit.
According to the 10th Israeli TV channel, Jabareen intends to appeal the decision of SCHABAS to the high court, where in the coming weeks will be considered the other his claim to SCHABAS. Jabareen demands to cancel manual Control of prisons prohibiting Knesset members to visit him in prison, prisoners serving sentences for crimes in the field of security.
Ahed Tamimi, a resident of village of Nabi Salah, near Ramallah, was arrested along with his cousin 19 December 2017, after the social networks were circulated video of the incident that occurred four days earlier. It shows how adolescent girls of the family Tamimi insulted and beat two IDF soldiers. The soldiers did not use force.
January 1 Ahed Tamimi was indicted in the attack on IDF soldiers with aggravating circumstances, incitement, threats to the troops and throwing rocks. In total, the indictment filed by the military Prosecutor’s office, consisted of 12 items.
