The head Prosecutor of the Crimea Natalia Polonskaya intends the court to recognize the Mejlis, which represents the interests of the Peninsula the Crimean Tatars, as extremist organization and to ban its activities on Russian territory.

«I filed a petition in the Supreme court of the Republic of Crimea with the request to recognize the public Association «the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people» extremist organization and to ban its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation in accordance with the requirements of article 9 of the Federal law «On countering extremist activity», – quotes Agency the words of the Prosecutor.
Poklonskaya claims that her office has evidence of anti-state, extremist activities, allegedly carried out by the leaders of the Crimean Tatars.
«He entered and received treatment in the Prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea from the Crimean Tatar population, nearly all public Crimean Tatar organizations, it’s more than a thousand of representatives of the Crimean Tatars, who are asked to acknowledge as illegal and provocative activities of the Mejlis,» – said Poklonski.
