According to the court, the prosecution failed to prove the guilt of the critic in the fraud. According to the judge Angeliki Morozova, Basner could not know that he appreciated the forgery as the genuine article.
«The court finds that the testimony of the defendant that she did not remember that the original painting Grigorieva is stored in the Russian Museum, not refuted by the prosecution» – quoted Morozov, the Agency «Interfax».
The representative of GSU SK the Russian Federation across Petersburg Sergey Kapitonov has informed «Fontanka» that his office will appeal against the acquittal. Andrey Vasilyev has also announced its intention to appeal the decision.
