According to his former boss, Russian President Vladimir Putin was «mediocre» by the KGB, the journalist writes The Sun Sam Webb.
General retired KGB Nikolai Leonov said in an interview with Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo: «When we was a student, freely speaking German, as in the case of Putin, if he was a good [employee], he went to West Germany or Austria. But he went on the «East side», which was a Communist regime.»
«Leonov added that promising officers were sent to Berlin to work with the Stasi – the secret police of the East German regime, but not in Dresden,» writes the newspaper.
«Leonov, who in the past in Soviet Russia was an expert on Latin America, also claims that Putin was often late to meetings – a habit that seemed to KGB «strange and scandalous», says the article.
