Sunday, December 13, the Supreme court allowed the General security service (SHABAK) not to allow the lawyers to the three suspects in the arson of the family Doable in the village of Duma, according to Chaim Levinson in ha’aretz.
According to published information, the suspects are under arrest since the end of November, and still hasn’t met with the lawyer.
In accordance with applicable law, the head of the investigative group of the ISA may prohibit the defendant to meet with his lawyer for ten days. Then the court not lower than district court can extend the ban for another ten days. It is forbidden to deprive the defendant of more than 21 days the opportunity to meet with a lawyer.
Lawyers for the suspects filed a lawsuit in the high court of appeals demanding to allow them to suspects. The main argument was the fact that the detainees have no information about the impending attack. Representatives of the Israel security Agency said that «given the particular gravity of the crimes, allegedly committed by the detainees, it is necessary to extend the ban on their meetings with lawyers.»
Supreme court justice Salim Jubran agreed with the arguments of the Israel security Agency, available to it based on classified material.
