The Committee on appropriations and the Committee on armed services of the house of representatives and the Committee on armed services of the Senate adopted on Thursday, June 29, the law on the allocation of 705 million dollars for the us-Israeli cooperation on missile defense.
Funds allocated within the programs of development and procurement of missile defense systems «Iron dome», «Magic wand», «Arrow-2 and Arrow-3» in 2018.
Appropriations for these programs were approved by Congress annually, because it does not fall within the scope of the us-Israeli ten-year agreement on defence aid, which expires this year.
Note that at this time Congress has allocated $ 105 million more than a year ago.
A new ten-year agreement signed in late 2016 and take effect in 2018, already provides for the inclusion of financing programs ABOUT, so that they will be allocated automatically without the need for annual approval by Congress.
Recall that in the framework of the new agreement, Israel will receive $ 3.8 billion instead of $ 3.1 billion. At the same time, Israel has pledged not to submit to the Congress requests for additional funding outside of the agreement. In addition, by the end of the term of the agreement, Israel will not be able to use American funds for the purchase of products of the Israeli defense corporations.
