The U.S. Secretary of defense Ashton Carter said at hearings in the American Senate’s readiness to assist the Iraqi army air support during the liberation located in Western Anbar province city of Ramadi.
«The U.S. is ready to put at the service of the Iraqi army our unique opportunities to bring the work to the end. If required and if the request of the government of Iraq, we will send attack helicopters and will provide military advisers», he said.
According to sources in the American administration, we are talking about Apache helicopters that are already in Iraq. However, their participation in the operations of the Iraqi army will be one more sign of movement on the «slippery slope» leading to military intervention.
At the moment in Iraq is 3.500 American soldiers playing the role of trainers and military advisers. This staff is in close cooperation with the Iraqi army.
However, the US administration has decided to send to the middle East commando units to fight against «Islamic state» in Syria and Iraq. The commandos will have full freedom of action and they do not have to coordinate its operations with the Iraqi authorities.
