The U.S. Senate on Tuesday, August 1, approved Christopher ray at the head of the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI).
According to the news Agency Reuters, the candidacy of ray, proposed by the President of the United States Donald trump, was supported by 95 senators, five voted against.
Trump announced his decision to appoint to head the FBI, former assistant attorney General Christopher ray at the beginning of June.
In the period between 2003 and 2005, during the presidency of George W. Bush, ray was the head of the criminal investigation Department of the Ministry of justice. After retiring from public office he engaged in private law practice.
We will remind, the previous head of the FBI, James Comey, was dismissed by President Donald trump in early may. Judging by the comments of the White house, Comey was dismissed on the grounds that he could not cope with the assigned duties and, in the opinion of the President, could not continue to manage the FBI.
James Comey was removed from office a day after hearings in the legal Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate in the case of relationships, Michael Flynn, former adviser to trump on national security, with Russian politicians.
