The Knesset Committee for legislation approved second and third reading of a bill worthy representation of the ultra-Orthodox for jobs in public institutions.
Approval of the bill was accompanied by intense debate between its authors, members Moshe Gafni and URI Makluba («yaadut Torah») and the Minister of justice Ayelet shaked and head of the Knesset’s legislation Nisan Slomiansky («Bayt Yehudi»). Shaked and Slomiansky insisted on замораживаниb of the bill.
The head of the Commission on legislation has stated that it intends to require a revision (re-discussion) of the bill to add a paragraph about the necessity of an adequate representation and new immigrants. Deputies from the ultra-Orthodox bloc strongly objected to this and stated that, if the bill is not approved, they will give their MPs the freedom to vote on the bill to legalize outposts, as well as the law of the muezzins. Both bills should be presented on 30 November for a vote in the Knesset in the first reading.
On the eve of the Second channel ITV announced that the coalition intend to meet the ultra-Orthodox, so as not to endanger the vote in the Knesset.
