The Chairman of the General Federation of trade unions («Histadrut») AVI Nissenkorn announced that on Wednesday, 16 December, will convene the House of representatives of the organization, which will consider the Declaration of a strike in the public sector.
The threat of a strike was declared against the background of a rupture of negotiations on raising the salaries of public sector workers.
It should be noted that the state of industrial conflict in the public sector was announced two weeks ago, so the strike may begin immediately after the announcement.
Niangoran demands for public sector workers (400 thousand people) increase of wages by 5% -7%, which increases government spending by 5-7 billion shekels a year.
The Ministry of Finance is ready to go to a meeting, but instead require a long-term non-strike and consent to increase the administrative flexibility in personnel decisions and organizational changes such as the introduction of new computer networks.
In turn, Nissenkorn requires that the salary increase was guaranteed without any connection with other issues.
