Saturday, July 15, the US administration issued a statement in which it strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the eve on the Temple mount. «Yesterday the Holy city of Jerusalem – city of peace – has become a place of attack. We pray together with the families of the victims and strongly condemn the terrorist attack,» — said in a statement by the press Secretary of the White House Sean Spicer.
White house officials urged to show «zero tolerance» to terror, and expressed support for Israel’s decision to temporarily close the temple mount.
«The attack forced Israel to temporarily close the mountain to investigate. Israel has ensured that is not going to change the status quo in this Holy place, and we welcome that decision. USA call on all leaders and religious leaders to be understanding,» reads the statement of the administration.
Earlier, a spokesman of the Jordanian government harshly condemned Israel for closing access to the temple mount, putting forward allegations of violation of the status quo and stating that the Hashemite Kingdom will use all available means to prevent attempts to change the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem.
The Israeli foreign Ministry rejected demands Jordan, saying that «instead of condemning the terrorist attack in Amman chose to condemn Israel.» According to the foreign Ministry statement, «all parties, including Jordan, should remain calm and not add fuel to the fire.»
