Anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the United States in connection with the annexation of Crimea will not be lifted until Russia maintains control over the Peninsula. On Thursday, March 16, said acting state Department spokesman mark Toner, RIA Novosti reported.
«The United States reiterates its condemnation of the Russian occupation of Crimea and call for its immediate end. Our sanctions related to the Crimea will remain in force as long as Russia does not return control of Ukraine», – reads the statement of the state Department on the occasion of the third anniversary of the referendum on the reunification of the Crimea with Russia.
The representative of the American foreign policy Department emphasized the U.S. commitment to the territorial integrity of Ukraine, calling the March 16 2014 referendum in Crimea «illegal».
