At least 17 people died in a fire in one of the hotels in the city of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. According to preliminary data, the fire occurred due to short circuit in the sauna.
The BBC reports that the fire occurred at the hotel Capitol Hotel. The Governor of Erbil, Nawaz Hadi said that 14 of the 17 people killed were not residents of Kurdistan. According to some information, among victims there are citizens of the Philippines.
The number of victims as a result of the fire was a few dozen people.
It should be noted that Erbil in recent years actively developed tourist infrastructure and is a great attraction for tourists, despite the difficult situation in other regions of Iraq.
