Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales announced the forthcoming launch of the online service Wikitribune against the spread in the media false information.
The website Wikitribune, according to Wales, who first announced their plans in April this year, will offer readers «facts and neutral information», which should facilitate the fight against «fakes».
As reported in April, the project is not affiliated with Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation.
On the website will work as professional journalists and volunteers.
Despite the fact that, as in the case of Wikipedia, any user will have the ability to edit the content, those edits will be published only after checking by site staff or approved volunteers.
It is reported that Wikitribune not plan to publish advertising. Access to the site will be free of charge. The work of the resource will be exclusively on donations.
At the moment, according to Wales, the site is still under «beta testing».
Wales stressed that he intends to launch the service «without much fanfare» to the work site was not disturbed by the simultaneous treatment of a large number of users.
