Turkish publication Today’s Zaman with reference to sources in the security reported on 24 December that Ankara is interested to resume cooperation with Israel in the military sphere.
In particular, Turkey, according to a source in the Ministry of defence of the country, is interested in buying Israeli drones and advanced surveillance systems.
The publication notes that since the 90-ies of the last century, there was close cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere. The crisis originated in 2010, due to ship Mavi Marmara that tried to break the naval blockade of the Gaza strip.
In 2013 as a mediator between countries was addressed by President Barack Obama. However, Turkey continued to insist on the payment of compensation to the families of the victims of the seizure of the vessel by the Israeli military.
Today’s Zaman writes that the negotiations on the normalization of relations between Jerusalem and Ankara resumed. In this regard, defence Ministry of Turkey is again considering the possibility of revival of several joint projects with Israel, which were postponed due to the Mavi Marmara.
