The court of the Turkish province extended the detention of two soldiers of the Greek army, who were detained after crossing the border of the two countries. Reportedly, they are charged with espionage.
The Greek authorities believe that official Ankara intends to use the soldiers to force Athens to return to Turkey of eight participants in the July coup in 2016, who managed to escape to Greece.
«This will not happen. We are not at war with Turkey, and about any prisoner exchange and speech can not be. Such spies are inflated by the media, but really, in the border areas is not uncommon,» — said the Minister at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Greece Giorgos Katrugalos.
The command of the Greek army reported that soldiers patrolling the border at the river Maritsa, lost his way in bad weather conditions. They categorically denied that the guards were engaged in espionage.
